British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two dear friends.”
This update on his health arrives after the boxing community had expressed its support for the fighter in the following the terrible crash.
